Monte Lemerle – Val Magnaboschi
Among Monte Lemerle, Val Magnaboschi and Monte Zovetto, sacred area of the Italian infantry, in 1916 some of the fiercest battles of the Great War on the Plateau were fought, with which the Italian army was able to stop the advance of the Strafexpedition towards the plain. In the area military posts, milestones, shelters, a former Austro-Italian cemetery and a British military cemetery are visible, identified by the signs of the Ecomuseum. In fact, from April 1918 the area was garrisoned by British troops, which were able to contain the Austrian offensive in June; to them we owe the development of the system of deep trenches, armoured emplacements and shelters, still visible today. From Val Magnaboschi a road eastward runs along the Monte Lemerle and reaches the Baito of Boscon (Barental itinerary), while continuing south and then west you can go up to the top of Monte Zovetto, with a nice view of Cesuna and the rest of the Plateau.
